Forcing your child to study or show learning of concepts that they are not ready for are a guaranteed way of creating a hatred for learning. The best way to let kids learn is to provide them learning games and let them set their own pace. As and when kids get curious about things they will indicate in some way or the other that they would like to know more. Your task as a parent at this stage is to expose them to a myriad of options starting from picture books to shapes and blocks that they can plug together. Allowing a comfortable pace at this stage and not being pushy about learning right from the very start helps kids become creative, develop exploratory skills and are more involved as students later.
A study conducted in the U.K. found that primary school children improve their math scores and concentration levels by playing online educational games, according to an article released in the BBC last month. Thirty primary school children between the ages of nine and ten, played a game called “Dr. Kawashima’s More Brain Training” game every morning for about 15 minutes before their lessons started. The game consists of several mini-games including reading tests, number challenges, memory puzzles and problem-solving exercises. At the end of the study, the children were tested in math and the results compared to a control group. Children who had played the games increased their test scores by more points than those who did not play, even though the test scores for both groups increased.
Educational games are an integral part of childhood; more so with the new age trend of ‘learn while you play’. Educational toys are mainly classified based on the type, design and the particular age group they are targeted at.
The choices of educational toys and learning games are however mind boggling. With the ever growing trend and popularity of educational games almost every store you go to is generally filled with such toys and games.
Before zooming on the ideal educational games for your little ones, it is important to make the shopping ‘age’ specific. If your child is a newborn then a game suitable for a 3 year old is going to be of little or no use as the infant will hardly be able to play with them.

What Are the Hidden Benefits of Educational Games Such As Playing With Schleich Figures
When I was growing up just after the end of the second World War the only media influences that children were subjected to were the radio, and billboard posters, until, when I was about nine, black and white television came along.
These days, however, children are bombarded on all sides by television, and by computer social sites and games, many of these media employing commercial pressures and fantasies that suck children into a virtual world. Many children hardly play outside at all now, preferring instead to spend hours on Facebook or playing the latest fantasy computer game.

My college instructor is having us do a presentation and then wants us to involve the class by having them play a game (quiz-style, points for their team for something they learned, etc.). What is the funnest, and most original, educational game you ever played in class?
P.S. It has to be pretty short. Like 3-4 minutes.
